CITY OF WAURIKA-WAURIKA PUBLIC WORKS AUTHORITY

UTILITY COLLECTIONS POLICY

Revised October 6, 2014

 The City Council, in an effort to deal with a rising number of delinquent accounts has revised the following policy.

UTILITY BILLS SHALL BE DUE ON OR BEFORE THE 10TH OF EACH MONTH.

Customers will be charged a late charge of 10% of the past due balance after the 10th day of the month.  A friendly reminder will be mailed after the 10th of each month to remind customers to pay their bill prior to the cut-off date which is the 20th of each month.

A penalty fee of $50 will be added to any water account and a $10 penalty fee will be added to any garbage only account not paid on the 19th day of every month.

Services will be DISCONNECTED on the 20th day of each month or the next working day that does not fall on a Friday or a holiday.  Water and Garbage only accounts that are not paid within 5 business days of cut-off date will be finalized and a new deposit will be required.  

The City of Waurika accepts cash, check, or money order.  Return checks will have a $25 return check fee and the customer will be on a cash only basis for 1 year.  The customer will have 5 business days to make the payment, after this time services will be disconnected and finalized requiring a new deposit to reconnect services.

An extra day will be granted if the 10th or 19th fall on a holiday or a weekend, extending the effective day and penalty day to the next working day after the holiday or weekend.

Utility employees are not bonded and cannot accept payment for services; therefore payments will have to be made at the City Hall between 8 am and 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday, or placed in an envelope and dropped in drop box which is located in the south window by the front door of the City Hall.

AS OF JANUARY 1, 2009 ALL UTILITY DEPOSITS (RESIDENTIAL OR COMMERCIAL) ARE $150

*****IF CONSUMER HAS A CONVICTION OF METER TAMPERING A $300 DEPOSIT AMOUNT APPLIES.***** 

AS OF JANUARY 9, 2012 THERE WILL BE A DEPOSIT REQUIRED FOR RURAL GARBAGE ONLY CUSTOMERS IN THE AMOUNT OF $50. 

*****AS OF OCTOBER 6, 2014 THERE WILL BE NO EXTENSIONS.

*****AS OF FEBRUARY 9, 2015 THE CITY HALL CLOSES AT 4:30 PM MON-FRI.
